Naira Marley accepts to join the Lagos State govt’s publicity evade the propagation of COVID-19 by creating free audio-visual media.
Naira Marley assented to it through a letter of undertaking written on the 9th of April,2020 which is addressed to the Lagos state Governor, Babajide sanwo-Olu.
The undertaking letter was dropped at the Magistrate court the same day as one of the requisites for the govt to lift the case of breaking the eventful and ceremonial distancing directive pronounced by the state government.
In response to it, the Principal Magistrate Yewande Aje-Afunwa signed the lifting of the case standing against the popular Musician.
The chief magistrate as well signed the lifting of the case against Marley’s co-defendants Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) official Babatunde Gbadamosi and his wife, Folasade.
On Wednesday, the 8th of April, Magistrate Aje-Afunwa had asked the 3 defendants’ to agree by the requisites put in place by the govt and to return to the court on 9th April for evaluation of their compliance to the undertaking.
The Lagos State Director of Public Prosecutions (DPP) Mr. Yhaqub Oshoala informed her that the Gbadamosis and Marley had assented and agreed to carry out the whole of the State’s requisites for the case closure.
He pointed out that they had “signed to work with the govt to address the COVID 19 epidemic widespread.”
The requisites are that they ought to personally give an apology individually to the president & governor of the state; sign to work in accordance with the COVID-19 regulations, and go inside self-isolation for the subsequent 14 days.
Defense counsel, Mr. Olawale Akoni (SAN) for Gbadamosi, Mr. Ebun-Olu Adegboruwa (SAN) for Mrs. Gbadamosi, and Miss Damilola Ayinde-Marshal for Marley corroborated his comment.
Aje-Afunwa stated: “Upon the oral application made by the Director of Public Prosecutions acting for the Attorney-General of Lagos State pursuant to Sections 71 and 73 of the Administration of Criminal Justice Law of Lagos State (ACJL) and pursuant to the reality that the 3 defendants have collaborated with requisites for the lifting/closure of the charge, the unchallenged application for withdrawal of the charge, leave is hereby granted to the Attorney-General of Lagos to lift/close the charge.
“The 3 defendants henceforth are freed.”
She applauded the defendants for “following the path of respect through admitting and facing the result of their wrong action” that had been a major of making the restoration of justice to be possible.
